都留文科大学の学生の皆さんと

1月のことになりますが、甲府市にある地域交流センターにて、都留文科大学での10数名の学生の皆さんにお話をさせていただきました。
講義後の質疑応答では、実に多様で、そして深い問いが続きました。
海外留学を目前に控え不安を感じた経験から、日本で暮らす外国人の立場を改めて考えるようになったという学生。
制度や仕組みだけでなく、そこに生きる人の感情や葛藤について真正面から向き合おうとする学生。
どの質問にも、「自分ごと」として社会を捉えようとする姿勢があり、私自身も多くの気づきをいただきました。
中には、高校時代に私の講演を聞いたことがあるという学生もいて、思いがけない再会に胸が熱くなりました。
「元気が出ました」という言葉は、何よりの励みです。
このような機会をくださった都留文科大学の佐藤先生、上野先生には心から感謝申し上げます。
学生の問いを大切にし、社会と現場を結びつける学びの場を丁寧に育てておられることに、深い敬意を感じました。
大学は、知識を得る場所であると同時に、価値観が揺さぶられ、視野が広がる場所でもあります。
その一端に関わらせていただけたことを光栄に思います。
これから海外へ羽ばたく学生も、日本で学びを深める学生も、それぞれの場所で多様な人と出会い、問い続けてほしい。
私もまた、現場と教育をつなぐ役割をこれからも丁寧に果たしていきたいと思います。

[ENGLISH TRANSLATION]
In January, I spoke to over a dozen students from Tsuru University at the Community Exchange Center in Kofu City.
The Q&A session after the lecture was filled with a wide variety of deep questions.
One student said that the anxiety he felt before studying abroad made him reconsider the position of foreigners living in Japan.
Another addressed the systems and mechanisms that guide the foreigners in Japan and their emotions and conflicts.
The questions were all coming form people who were trying to understand society and how it affects them as well which inspired me a lot.
Some of the students had heard me speak when they were still in high school, so our meeting this time was actually an unexpected reunion! I can’t describe how hertwarming it was to come to this realization. But I guess the bigges encouragement I got from this lecture, was hearing people say they felt “energized”.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Professor Sato and Professor Ueno of Tsuru University for giving me this opportunity.
I feel deeply respected for how they value students’ questions and carefully cultivate a learning environment that connects with society.
The University is not just a place to gain knowledge, but a place where people’s values are challenged and horizons broadened.
That being said, I am honored to have been able to be a part of this.
I hope that students who are about to spread their wings and fly abroad, as well as those who continue their studies in Japan, will continue to meet diverse people and ask questions in their respective locations.
I, too, would like to continue to carefully play my role in connecting the field with education.

Em janeiro, palestrei para mais de uma dúzia de alunos da Universidade de Tsuru no Centro de Intercâmbio Comunitário na cidade de Kofu.
A sessão de perguntas e respostas depois da palestra foi repleta de questões profundas e variadas.
Um aluno comentou que a ansiedade que sentia antes de estudar no exterior o fez repensar a situação dos estrangeiros que vivem no Japão, outro abordou os sistemas e mecanismos que guiam os estrangeiros no Japão, bem como suas emoções e conflitos.
As perguntas vieram de pessoas que buscavam compreender a sociedade e como ela as afeta, o que me inspirou bastante.
Alguns dos alunos já haviam me ouvido palestrar quando ainda estavam no ensino médio, então nosso encontro desta vez foi, na verdade, um reencontro inesperado! Não consigo descrever o quão emocionada fiquei quando percebi isso. Mas acho que o maior incentivo que recebi desta palestra foi ouvir as pessoas dizerem que se sentiram “energizadas”.
Gostaria de expressar minha sincera gratidão ao Professor Sato e ao Professor Ueno da Universidade de Tsuru por me proporcionarem esta oportunidade.
Eu me senti muito respeitada vendo como eles valorizam valorizam as perguntas dos alunos e cultivam um ambiente de aprendizagem que se conecta com a sociedade.
A universidade não é apenas um lugar para adquirir conhecimento, mas um lugar onde os valores das pessoas são desafiados e seus horizontes ampliados.
Dito isso, fico honrada de poder fazer parte disso.
Espero que os alunos que estão prestes a alçar voo e ir para o exterior e aqueles que vão continuar seus estudos no Japão, continuem encontrando pessoas diversas e se perguntando sobre sua posição no mundo.
Eu também gostaria de continuar a desempenhar meu papel de ligar estudantes com o mundo do trabalho.
